A walk along the meanders of the Rusenski Lom to the UNESCO rock churches of Ivanovo, hollowed into the canyon wall by 13th century hermit monks. The frescoes of the Holy Virgin church are masterpieces of medieval art. River, cliffs and poplars make the approach as memorable as the shrine.
