Mountain of the Dead Siwa

Gebel al-Mawta, the Mountain of the Dead, is a conical hill on the edge of Siwa Oasis honeycombed with rock-cut tombs. This short walk climbs the slope past painted tombs from the Greco-Roman period to a viewpoint over the palm groves and salt lakes. It is an easy cultural stroll in one of Egypt's most remote oases.
