The highest summit of the Retezat at 2509 m, most often climbed from Poiana Pelegii past Lacul Bucura, the largest glacial lake in Romania. The upper slopes are a sea of granite blocks patrolled by chamois. The panorama sweeps the entire lake-filled heart of the national park.
