Mount Guanyin (Hutou Peak)

A volcanic hill on the south bank of the Tamsui River, its silhouette said to resemble a reclining Guanyin. Stone steps climb through temples and forest to the Hutou summit, with wide views over the river mouth and out to the Taiwan Strait. A popular half-day escape from the city.
