This route climbs England's third highest mountain from Glenridding via Red Tarn and the rocky ridge of Swirral Edge. The airy scramble leads to the broad summit plateau of Helvellyn with its shelter and huge views. A slightly less exposed alternative to neighbouring Striding Edge.
