This short walk links two of ancient Alexandria's great monuments, the towering Roman column known as Pompey's Pillar and the underground Catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa. The pillar rises from the ruins of the Serapeum temple. The nearby catacombs descend through carved chambers blending Egyptian and Roman art.
