Trail Description

The Monastery of Saint Anthony sits at the foot of the Red Sea mountains and is considered the oldest Christian monastery in the world. This walk climbs the stepped path up the cliff behind the monastery to the cave where Saint Anthony lived as a hermit. The ascent rewards hikers with views over the eastern desert and the walled monastery below.
