Trail Description

Wadi El Natrun is a desert depression between Cairo and Alexandria that has been a centre of Coptic monasticism since the fourth century. This walk visits the walled monasteries and their ancient churches set among the salt flats. It is a quiet journey into the roots of Christian monastic life.
