Trail Description
A walk to the Malwiya, the spiralling minaret that rises like a coiled ramp above the ruins of the great mosque of Samarra. Built in the ninth century when Samarra was the seat of the caliphs, its outer stair climbs to a giddy viewpoint over the Tigris plain. One of the most iconic monuments of Islamic Iraq.
