Trail Description

A forest walk to the highest point of Santa Maria, the southernmost island of the Azores. The path climbs through laurel and cryptomeria woodland to a viewpoint over the whole island and its patchwork of fields. On clear days the horizon stretches endlessly across the Atlantic.
