Taishan Red Gate Route to the Jade Emperor Peak

The classic pilgrim ascent of Mount Tai, known as the Hongmen route, climbing from the foot of the mountain above Tai'an through the Middle Heaven Gate and the Eighteen Bends to the Jade Emperor Peak at 1532 m. The whole way is a carved stone stairway lined with temples, gateways and imperial rock inscriptions. Long and relentlessly steep, but technically straightforward.
