Shiretoko Five Lakes

A loop through the primeval forest of the Shiretoko peninsula in eastern Hokkaido, linking five still lakes that mirror the Shiretoko mountain range. The ground trail winds among old-growth trees where brown bears roam, while an elevated boardwalk offers a safe alternative. It is one of Japan's great wilderness walks.
