Volcan Paricutin

A walk across a black lava field to a volcano that was born in a farmer's cornfield in 1943. The route crosses the hardened flows past a church half buried in lava to the base and cinder cone of Paricutin itself. Hot and dusty, often done partway on horseback, ending with a scramble up loose ash.
