Trail Description

A walk to the Al Askari shrine in Samarra, one of the holiest sites in Shia Islam beneath its rebuilt golden dome. The sanctuary holds the tombs of two imams beside the shrine of the hidden Mahdi. Pilgrim streets lead toward the great mosque and its spiral minaret nearby.
