Trail description

From Swirls car park beside Thirlmere, the most direct path up Helvellyn zigzags above Helvellyn Gill, crosses Browncove Crags and joins the main ridge at Lower Man. The route has been paved where necessary and avoids the eastern edges entirely. Helvellyn's summit stands at 950 m, making it the third highest point in England.
