Rainbow Falls

Trail description

A 4.3 km climb of about 540 m from Cherokee Orchard Road up the Rainbow Falls Trail to Rainbow Falls, in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The trail continues on up Mount Le Conte and follows roughly the route taken by Paul Adams when he led the first Park Commission trip to LeConte, which helped lead to the creation of the park. Rainbow Falls is the highest single-drop waterfall in the national park. On a sunny afternoon a rainbow can sometimes be seen in the spray, which gives the falls their name.
