Mountain Description
El Capitan is a vertical granite monolith rising about 900 metres above the floor of Yosemite Valley in California, and one of the most iconic rock-climbing walls on Earth, home to legendary big-wall routes such as The Nose and the Dawn Wall. Hikers reach the summit on a strenuous trail that climbs past Yosemite Falls. The season runs from late spring through autumn, when the granite is dry and the high country is snow-free.
