Mountain Description

Mount Fairweather (4,671 m) straddles the border between Alaska and British Columbia and is the highest peak in the coastal Saint Elias Mountains, rising almost directly from the Pacific near Glacier Bay. Its proximity to the ocean makes it one of the snowiest and stormiest mountains on the continent, and a serious, rarely-climbed mountaineering objective. Most attempts are made in spring.
