Pirunkuru

Trail description

The Pirunkurun ponnistus loop in Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park starts at the Kesänkijärvi trailhead near Äkäslompolo and follows the lake shore for 1.6 km before climbing about 275 m through the boulder-walled Pirunkuru gorge, Ylläs's best-known gorge, to a 486 m high point on Kesänkitunturi. It continues past the Tahkokuru hut and descends on a wide gravel path back to Kesänkijärvi, about 8 km in total. The gorge section is rocky and slippery when wet, and the route is a summer trail.
