Trail description

From the Col du Chat, the waymarked route to the Dent du Chat climbs south, mostly through forest, along the ridge of the Mont du Chat and past the Col de la Vacherie to the summit. The final section is steep and exposed (T3): the path skirts the rock on its west side along a ledge fitted with cables, and the last metres to the top use cables and ladders, so the tourist office advises against it for young children, anyone prone to vertigo and walkers without proper boots. The summit stands some 1,100 m above the Lac du Bourget, and legend says the tooth is the last fang of a monstrous cat killed by companions of King Arthur. The walk is about 3.6 km one way, with some 735 m of climbing.
