Trail description

A 2.9 km hike up the Almbachklamm near Marktschellenberg in the Berchtesgaden Alps, from the Kugelmühle at the mouth of the gorge, the last working marble ball mill in Germany, to the Theresienklause, a dam named after Queen Therese of Bavaria. The path, built by soldiers in a single month in 1894, climbs about 200 m through a tunnel and over 29 bridges and 320 steps, passing many waterfalls including the 114 m Sulzer Wasserfall, the eleventh-highest in Germany. The gorge is open from early May to the end of October and closed in winter.
