Trail description
Úlfarsfell, about 295 m high, is a small mountain on the border of Reykjavík and Mosfellsbær and one of the most popular short hikes in the capital area. This route starts by the Leirtjörn pond above Úlfarsárdalur on the south side and follows the marked trail about 1.6 km to the summit knoll, Stórihnúkur, where a viewing platform looks out over the city. On a clear day the view reaches Faxaflói bay, the Reykjanes peninsula and the Snæfellsjökull glacier. The trail can be walked all year.
