Monte Mottarone

Trail Description

A 6.7 km climb of about 800 m from Nocco near Gignese up to the summit of Monte Mottarone, 1,492 m, the granite mountain between Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta above Stresa. On clear days the top gives a 360 degree view from the Maritime Alps to Monte Rosa and the Swiss peaks, and over seven lakes, including Maggiore, Orta, Mergozzo and Varese. Near the summit are the Alpyland alpine coaster and the top of the cableway from Stresa.
