Mount Himekami

Trail description

Himekami, 1,124 m, is a pyramid-shaped granite peak in Morioka and one of Japan's 200 famous mountains. This route climbs from the north side to the summit, which carries a first-order survey point and a 360 degree view of Iwate, Hayachine and Nanashigure. The poet Ishikawa Takuboku, born at its foot in Shibutami, loved this mountain. Legend says Himekami and Mount Iwate were once husband and wife.
