Trail description

Steep climb from the Machu Picchu citadel up a long Inca stone stairway to the summit of Machu Picchu Mountain, the highest point of the archaeological site. The top looks down on the citadel and the Urubamba gorge. The climb needs the 'Montaña Machu Picchu' ticket, which has limited places and timed entry to the mountain trail between 06:00 and 07:00 or 08:00 and 09:00. Book well ahead in the dry season.
