Canepa Loop from Montecchio

Trail description

Thematic itinerary no. 2 of San Marino is a loop of about 3.8 km from Montecchio through the protected Canepa natural area, with about 210 m of climbing and roughly 2 hours of walking. It passes the narrow wooded gorge of the Fosso di Canepa, the ruins of the old Canepa water mills and the Grotta di Canepa (Grotta del Bando), which only experienced cavers may enter. The official grading is medium to difficult, with short steep stretches that are very slippery when wet.
