Trail Description

The highest summit of the Navarrese Pyrenees (2,444 m), climbed from Mata de Haya in the Belagua valley through the Larra nature reserve: the route follows the PR-NA 203, then the Aztaparreta ravine towards the Peña del Rey, joins the GR 12 at about 1,600 m to the Hoya del Portillo de Larra and heads east to the summit. The Roncal valley trail site calls it very demanding, 22.2 km return with 1,564 m of ascent and about 9 h 25, and warns of frequent dense fog; in winter there is ice and avalanche risk.
