Trail description

From St Mary's Church at Whicham, a broad bridleway climbs Moor Gill and the southern slopes to the summit of Black Combe, only four miles from the Irish Sea. The 600 m fell stands well apart from higher ground, giving views over land and sea. It was one of five Cumberland stations used by the Ordnance Survey for its early principal triangulation.
