Trail description

Starting beside the Windermere Hotel near Windermere station, the route climbs a lane and a restored Victorian carriageway through Elleray Wood to the open top of Orrest Head. The 238 m summit gives a 360 degree view over Windermere and the central fells. It was the first fell Alfred Wainwright climbed, and the path is the National Park's 50th Miles Without Stiles route.
