Trail description

From Buttermere village the path crosses to Burtness Wood and climbs beside Sour Milk Gill into Bleaberry Comb, passing Bleaberry Tarn before a steep pull to the summit. Red Pike rises to 755 m above Buttermere and Crummock Water. Its red colour comes from syenite in the rock and subsoil, most obvious on the eroded upper path.
