Trail description
A 3.5 km loop with about 130 m of climbing on the East Bluff Trail and a stretch of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail above Devil's Lake, in Devil's Lake State Park just south of Baraboo. At 3,730 ha it is the largest state park in Wisconsin, set in the Baraboo Range on the western edge of the last ice sheet of the Wisconsin glaciation. The park is known for its 150 m high quartzite bluffs along the 150 ha lake, which formed when glacial moraines plugged both ends of the gap in the bluffs about 12,000 years ago. The East Bluff takes in the park's eastern outcrops, with climbing areas around formations such as Devil's Doorway and Balanced Rock.
