Trail description
A 2.9 km climb of about 290 m from Rim Village to the summit of Garfield Peak (2,431 m) on the south rim of Crater Lake, in Crater Lake National Park. The trail from the Crater Lake lodge to the summit is one of the most popular hikes around the lake. The peak is named for James Rudolph Garfield, Secretary of the Interior under Theodore Roosevelt, who visited in 1907 as the first cabinet member to see Crater Lake. It stands on the rim of the caldera formed when Mount Mazama erupted about 7,700 years ago.
