Trail description

A 13.5 km loop in Guadalupe Mountains National Park from the Pine Springs trailhead up the Bear Canyon Trail and down the Tejas Trail, with a short spur to the summit of Hunter Peak (2,553 m), the fifth-highest peak in the Guadalupe Mountains. The summit rises 2,500 feet (762 m) above Pine Spring Canyon in one mile, and its slopes carry ponderosa pine, southwestern white pine, Douglas-fir and juniper. The peak is named for J.C. Hunter, an early champion of the park who owned much of its land.
