Trail description
A short, steep 1.1 km climb of about 170 m to the bare granite summit of Mount Cardigan in Cardigan Mountain State Park, in the town of Orange in western New Hampshire. Although the peak is only 962 m high, its wide granite ledges and alpine scrub give it the feel of a much higher mountain. Most of the summit area was stripped of forest by fires in 1855. The Cardigan Lodge, run by the Appalachian Mountain Club since 1934, sits at the eastern foot of the mountain.
