Trail Description

A 3.3 km climb of about 410 m to the bare, rocky summit of Mount Monadnock (965 m) in Jaffrey, New Hampshire. It is the most prominent peak in southern New Hampshire and the highest point in Cheshire County, rising about 610 m above the surrounding land and nearly 305 m higher than any other peak within 48 km. Monadnock has long been cited as one of the most frequently climbed mountains in the world. Its name is used by geologists for any isolated mountain left standing after the softer rock around it has eroded away.
