Trail Description

A 4.2 km climb on the Mount Pilchuck Trail from a trailhead at about 3,000 ft to the old fire lookout on the summit (5,324 ft / 1,623 m) in Mount Pilchuck State Park, seven miles east of Granite Falls. The Forest Service built the lookout in 1918 and it is now a shelter for hikers, with 360 degree views of Mount Baker, Mount Rainier and the Olympics. Orange markers lead the trail through a boulder field near the one-mile mark.
